My friend Thierno Diop called the other day to let me know that he was back in the African art business and had opened a gallery in Pioneer Square. Besides being a talented musician and perhaps the most respected member of the African community in Seattle, Thierno is a thoughtful and professional merchant, so I’m sure your shopping experience at Akanyi African Art will be good.
Akanyi is on the Occidental Mall, just down the street from Elliott Bay Books. I haven’t been in myself yet but plan to check the gallery out next week during the First Thursday Art Walk. Maybe I’ll see you there?
