Andrew Oliver Kora Band at Seattle City Hall on September 2, 2010

by Larry on September 1, 2010

This joyous jam of West African music and American jazz improv overflows with spiraling harp plucks, gravelly trumpet shouts, shuffling bass lines, drum claps and gleeful piano lines. The Oregonian declares the music has “the swing and intellect of American jazz with the divine poetry of West African music.” The Seattle Times says “Modest but mesmerizing, it’s as novel and agreeable a sound as you’ve never heard.” The show is outside on the upper plaza. In case of rain the show will move inside City Hall lobby.
