This morning, I added a bunch of world music and dance shows at Folklife. The Folklife website isn’t particularly usable, so this was a bit of a chore, but I think I managed to find at least all of the African, Brazilian, and Cuban shows. The easiest way to browse these shows is to visit the World Music Shows & Events page.

In addition to these shows, there will be ongoing drum and dance workshops all weekend. Consult the Folklife online schedule and/or download the Folklife iPhone app or Folklife Android app.

I’ll be at Folklife much of the weekend, most likely at those shows I have listed. Please say “Hi” if you see me.

I’ve added a page listing Brazilian dance classes in Seattle. They’re mostly samba and other Afro-Brazilian styles. I’ll add capoeira and other classes as I learn of them. As always, if you know of other classes that should be listed, please let me know.

I’ve also added a page listing Seattle world music radio programs. I believe it is up to date and current with the KBCS programming changes, but, again, let me know if I’m missing anything or have made any errors.

We aren’t quite as blessed as New York or San Francisco, but Seattle has plenty of world music concerts, African, Brazilian, and Cuban dance classes, drum jams, and other global rhythm events.

Both to give you one-stop shopping for world beat event info and to good-natured-ly torment my many friends who would like to got to every single world music and dance event in Seattle, I have created a Mondo World Beat Event List page.
